Hello! The summer is rapidly coming to an end and it is time to start thinking about and preparing for the fall semester. This is going to be a great year for the TEACH program! We have an awesome new cohort and there are lots of wonderful opportunities coming up this fall! Be sure to check the announcement page each week as it will be updated with new announcements, reminders, and resources designed just for you!

Don’t forget about JumpStart on August 15th and 16th at the TLTC. This is a great chance for you to pick up workshop hours before the semester gets underway, and there are some great sessions designed to help you get the semester started right such as Setting the Tone: What to Do on the First Day and Beyond and Using Microsoft Excel as a Gradebook. For more information and to register for classes, go to http://www.tltc.ttu.edu/jumpstart/. We’d love to see you there!

Here are some links from the University of California, Berkeley to help you as you prepare for your fall courses.

http://teaching.berkeley.edu/bgd/prepare.html -- This page offers general strategies or tools for designing or preparing a course.

http://teaching.berkeley.edu/bgd/syllabus.html --This is an excellent guide to the syllabus. It offers suggestions for what to include and why.

http://teaching.berkeley.edu/bgd/firstday.html -- We all know how important the first day of classes can be, this selection from Barbara Gross Davis’ Tools for Teaching

For more information on preparing courses, writing syllabi, and other topics check out the TEACH resources at http://www.tltc.ttu.edu/teach/general.asp.
